Application Scenarios and Advantages of MGO Board for Walls
(1) Indoor Partition Walls (Including Firewalls)

Application Scenarios: Partition walls for residential buildings, commercial buildings, and industrial plants, as well as firewalls in public areas (such as around stairwells and equipment rooms).

Core Advantages: Fast construction, direct splicing and installation. When combined with keels, it forms a lightweight partition system with both fire resistance and sound insulation effects (rock wool can be filled to enhance sound insulation).

Key Parameters: Common thickness is 8-15mm. The fire resistance rating of a single wall is 0.5-2 hours, and that of a double wall (with rock wool filled in between) can reach 2-4 hours.

(2) External Wall Thermal Insulation and Fireproof Layer

Application Scenarios: Fire barrier zones in external wall external insulation systems and fireproof base panels for external walls.

Core Advantages: Strong weather resistance, capable of withstanding wind, sun, and rain. It is compatible with thermal insulation materials (such as extruded boards and polystyrene boards) and blocks the fire spread path of the insulation layer.

Construction Points: Waterproof treatment (such as applying waterproof coating) is required to avoid direct long-term rain soaking.

Application Scenarios and Advantages of MGO Board for Fire Door Panels

(1) Core Structure of Fire Door Panels

Basic Function: Serve as the fire-resistant core material or surface panel of door panels, forming composite fire doors with wooden or steel frames.

Common Structure: Double-sided MGO boards + core material (rock wool, perlite) + frame. Some high-end products can have a decorative layer (such as wood grain, baking paint) on one side.

(2) Adaptable Door Panel Types and Advantages

Wooden Composite Fire Doors: MGO boards replace traditional density boards to improve fire resistance while maintaining the decorativeness of wooden doors. The fire resistance rating can reach 0.5-1.5 hours.

Steel Fire Doors: As internal fireproof lining panels, they enhance the overall fire stability of the door panels, reduce high-temperature deformation of steel, and meet the requirements of Class A, B, and C fire doors.

Special Scenarios: For places with high fire resistance requirements such as equipment room doors, fire exit doors, and basement doors, the fire resistance rating can be customized according to needs.

(3) Key Advantages

Fire Compliance: Easily meets the GB 12955 "Fire Doors" standard. Different thicknesses can match different fire resistance ratings.

Lightweight: Lighter than traditional fire door panels (such as pure steel plates and concrete panels), reducing the load pressure on door frames and extending the service life of door bodies.

Easy Processing: Can be cut and drilled on demand, facilitating the installation of hardware accessories (hinges, locks).

Application Notes

  • Thickness Selection: Common thickness for walls is 8-15mm, and for fire door panels is 12-20mm. It should be determined according to the fire resistance rating and structural design.
  • Installation Requirements: Special hardware should be used. Wall installation needs to be firmly fixed. The joints of fire door panels should be sealed (such as applying fireproof glue) to avoid gaps affecting the fire resistance effect.
  • Environmental Limitations: Although moisture-resistant, it should avoid long-term soaking. For outdoor applications, surface protection (such as painting, pasting waterproof film) is required.

How is the Moisture Resistance of MGO Board Reflected?

MGO board has excellent moisture resistance, which is mainly derived from the characteristics of inorganic materials. It is mainly reflected through three aspects: material nature, actual performance, and scenario adaptability.

1. Material Nature: Blocking the Possibility of Water Absorption and Mold Growth from the Root

  • MGO board is mainly composed of inorganic cementitious materials such as magnesium oxide and magnesium chloride, without plant fibers or wood components.
  • Plant fibers are the key reason for water absorption and mold growth in traditional boards (such as wood and density boards). MGO board does not contain such components, fundamentally reducing the material basis for water absorption and mold growth.

2. Actual Performance: Low Water Absorption + Water Immersion Resistance + Strong Stability

  • Low Water Absorption Rate: The water absorption rate of finished MGO board is usually ≤10% (slightly different depending on thickness/process), which is much lower than that of wood (often over 20%) and ordinary gypsum board.
  • Water Immersion Resistance Without Deformation: When soaked in water for a short period (24-72 hours), it will not soften, bulge, or crack. After drying, its physical properties (strength, flatness) can be restored to their original state.
  • No Mold Growth: It will not produce mold or decay in humid environments, nor attract insects and ants, and will not have odors during long-term use.

3. Scenario Adaptation Verification: Suitable for High-Humidity Environments

  • It can be directly used in high-humidity areas without additional complex moisture-proof treatment, such as kitchens, bathrooms, basements, underground garages, and buildings in coastal humid areas.
  • Even in long-term humid environments with relative humidity ≥85%, it can still maintain structural stability without condensation or peeling, adapting to the base material needs of indoor and outdoor humid scenarios.

Supplementary Notes

  • MGO board is moisture-resistant but not waterproof. It should avoid long-term water accumulation (such as continuous rain washing and waterlogging).
  • For outdoor or long-term rain-exposed scenarios, waterproof coating (such as acrylic waterproof coating, waterproof film) should be applied on the surface to further improve water resistance and durability.

How Does Fireproof Mgo Wallboard Provide Fire Resistance

Fireproof Mgo wallboard provides fire resistance through its unique composition and manufacturing process.

Magnesium Oxide (MgO): The primary component of fireproof Mgo wallboard is magnesium oxide, which is highly fire-resistant. MgO has a high melting point and does not release any toxic gases when exposed to fire.

Reinforcement: Fireproof Mgo wallboard is reinforced with various materials like fiberglass mesh or cellulose fibers. These reinforcements enhance the strength and fire resistance of the wallboard.

Non-combustible: Mgo wallboard is non-combustible, meaning it does not burn or support the spread of fire. When exposed to high temperatures, it does not ignite, emit flames, or produce smoke.

High Thermal Resistance: Fireproof Mgo wallboard has excellent thermal resistance properties. It can withstand high temperatures without deforming or losing its structural integrity, providing a barrier against the spread of fire.

Low Thermal Conductivity: Mgo wallboard has low thermal conductivity, which means it does not transfer heat easily. This property helps prevent the rapid spread of heat from one side of the wallboard to the other, allowing it to act as a fire-resistant barrier.

Intumescent Properties: Some fireproof Mgo wallboards are designed with intumescent additives. When exposed to heat, these additives expand and form an insulating layer, further enhancing the fire resistance of the wallboard.

Which Humid Environments are Suitable for MGO Board?

MGO board is suitable for most high-humidity scenarios, mainly covering indoor high-humidity areas, underground spaces, coastal environments, and outdoor semi-exposed areas. The specific scenarios and adaptation logic are as follows:

1. Core Indoor High-Humidity Scenarios

  • Kitchens: A large amount of water vapor is generated during daily cooking. MGO board can be used as a wall base material, which does not absorb water or mold, and is suitable for decorative surfaces such as tiles and latex paint.
  • Bathrooms: Continuous high humidity is caused by showering and washing. It can be used as a wall/ceiling base material in non-direct water spray areas, replacing gypsum boards and wood boards that are prone to dampness.
  • Laundries/Bathhouses: Moisture generated by washing machine drainage and drying. MGO board can maintain structural stability without condensation or peeling.
  • Swimming Pool Surroundings/Sauna Room Outer Areas: High humidity + temperature fluctuation environment. The board will not deform due to humidity and heat, adapting to public areas with high moisture-proof requirements.

2. Underground Humid Spaces

  • Basements (Residential/Commercial): Long-term dark and humid, prone to condensation. MGO board can be used as a base material for partition walls, ceilings, or floors to avoid mold and decay.
  • Underground Garages/Underground Malls: Poor ventilation and high humidity. It is suitable as a wall decoration base material or firewall lining panel, taking into account both moisture resistance and fire resistance.
  • Underground Equipment Rooms: Moisture generated by equipment operation + closed environment. The board can resist the impact of moisture on the structure and protect the walls around the equipment.

3. Special Humid Climates/Regions

  • Buildings in Coastal Areas: High salt spray and high humidity environment. Ordinary boards are prone to corrosion. MGO board, as an inorganic material, is resistant to salt corrosion and moisture, adapting to indoor and outdoor base materials.
  • Rainy and Humid Areas (Such as Southern Plum Rain Season): Air humidity often exceeds 85%. MGO board can still maintain flatness in long-term high humidity without deformation or cracking.

4. Outdoor Semi-Exposed Humid Scenarios

  • Balconies/Terraces: As a wall base material, it needs to be combined with waterproof coating (such as acrylic waterproof coating) to resist rain spray and dew erosion.
  • External Walls (Non-Direct Rain-Exposed Surfaces): Can be used as a fire and moisture-proof lining panel for external wall insulation systems or a base material for shaded external walls. Surface protection should be done well.
  • Landscape Pavilions/Corridors: Outdoor semi-shielded spaces that are humid and prone to rain. After anti-corrosion and waterproof treatment, MGO board can replace wood boards.
