Magnesium Oxide Interior Decorative Panels
With the global emphasis on green building, fire safety, and indoor air quality, MgO interior decorative panels are increasingly replacing traditional gypsum and wood-based panels, especially in high-moisture and public projects. Innovations include ultra-thin decorative panels, integrated thermal/acoustic solutions, and digital printing for custom designs.

Product Introduction
Magnesium Oxide Interior Decorative Panels
Magnesium Oxide (MgO) Interior Decorative Panels, covering their composition, manufacturing, core properties, specifications, applications, installation, maintenance, and comparison with traditional materials.
1.
MgO interior decorative panels (often called MGO boards) are inorganic, non-combustible decorative building panels engineered for interior walls, ceilings, and partitions.
- Primary raw materials: Light-burned magnesium oxide (MgO), magnesium chloride/magnesium sulfate (as the binder), perlite/vermiculite (lightweight aggregate), reinforced with alkali-resistant glass fiber mesh; chloride-free formulas are available to avoid Halogenide (efflorescence).
- Surface finishes: Plain (for secondary finishing), melamine-impregnated paper, PVC film, wood veneer, or ceramic tile-facing, providing wood grain, solid colors, or stone textures.
- Manufacturing process: Material mixing → casting/forming → pressing → curing (controlled temperature & humidity) → cutting → surface treatment → quality inspection.
2. Key Performance Advantages
- Fire resistance (A1-class non-combustible): Does not burn, maintains integrity at 800°C, with a fire endurance of 2–3 hours; meets GB 8624 A1, EN 13501-1 A1 requirements, far exceeding gypsum board or plywood.
- Moisture & mold resistance: Low water absorption, no warping/swelling/delamination in humid environments; inhibits mold/mildew growth, ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and coastal areas. Chloride-free formulations eliminate salt efflorescence.
- Eco-friendly & healthy: No formaldehyde, asbestos, crystalline silica, or toxic volatile organic compounds (VOCs); hypoallergenic, suitable for sensitive spaces like hospitals, schools, and children's roomsMagPanel.
- Mechanical strength & durability: High flexural strength (8–15 MPa), good screw-holding power; termite/rodent-proof, no rotting, long service life (30+ years).
- Thermal & acoustic insulation: Porous structure offers thermal insulation and sound reduction (50–55 dB for double-layer partitions).
- Workability: Easy to cut, drill, saw, and nail; compatible with paints, wallpapers, tiles, and other surface finishes.
3. Standard Specifications
- Common sizes: 1220 × 2440 mm (4 ft × 8 ft), also 1200 × 2400 mm, 910 × 1800 mm.
- Thickness range: 3 mm (thin decorative panels) up to 25 mm (load-bearing partitions/ceilings); typical interior wall thicknesses: 6 mm, 9 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm.
- Density: 0.8–1.25 g/cm³, lighter than cement fiberboard, reducing structural load.
About Non Combustible Wall Board

4. Typical Applications
- Residential interiors: Bathroom/kitchen wall cladding, living room accent walls, basement ceilings, bedroom partitions.
- Commercial/public buildings: Hospitals, schools, shopping malls, hotels, subway stations, data centers, and fire-rated zones.
- Special environments: Clean rooms, swimming pool changing rooms, coastal properties, and areas prone to mold or pests.
- Secondary processing: Custom-shaped decorative elements, integrated wall systems, furniture panels, and door cores.
5. Installation & Maintenance Guidelines
- Installation basics: Use light-gauge steel studs (recommended) or wooden frames; leave expansion gaps (2–3 mm at edges); use anti-rust screws; seal joints with flexible, moisture-resistant sealant to prevent cracking. For wet areas (e.g., showers), apply a waterproof membrane behind the panels.
- Finishing steps: Fill joints with putty, apply fiberglass tape to prevent cracking, then paint or apply decorative finishes.
- Maintenance: Wipe with a damp cloth; avoid prolonged exposure to standing water; inspect sealants periodically and re-seal if needed.

7. Quality Considerations & Standards
- Key indicators: Chloride content (≤ 0.03% for premium boards), moisture content (< 8%), flexural strength, efflorescence test, and fire certification.
- Certifications to look for: CE, ISO 9001, GB/T 30100 (Chinese standard for MgO boards), and third-party test reports on formaldehyde emissions and fire performance.
