• Exterior: Wall sheathing under stucco, fiber cement siding, or EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System); modular building cladding. Critical Note: Exposed exterior panels must have a weather-resistant barrier (WRB)+topcoat (acrylic, silicone) to prevent long-term water ingress.

 

5. Installation & Best Practices

• Framing: Wood or light-gauge steel studs (16/24 inch on-center). Leave 3–5mm expansion gaps at edges and between boards.
• Fastening: Use corrosion-resistant screws (stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized); avoid common drywall screws for exterior. Edge distances and spacing follow manufacturer guidelines.
• Joint treatment: Use fiber-reinforced MGO-compatible joint compound; tape with fiberglass mesh tape.
• Exterior layers: Install WRB, insulation, then the MGO panel, then finish coating.

• Advantages vs Gypsum Board/Plywood: Better fire+moisture resistance; no termite issues; lower long-term maintenance.
