1. Outstanding fire resistance and flame retardancy
This is the core competitiveness of magnesium oxide board as a fireproof exterior wall panel, mainly due to the properties of its raw materials and production process:
Non-combustible Material: Magnesium oxide, magnesium chloride, and glass fiber cloth are the main raw materials of glass magnesium board (accounting for over 80%). After being mixed in proportion and pressed into shape, it belongs to A1 grade non-combustible material (the highest grade in GB 8624-2012 "Classification of Fire Performance of Building Materials and Products"), which does not burn when exposed to fire, does not produce open flames, and does not release toxic smoke (such as formaldehyde, cyanide, etc.). It only undergoes physical carbonization at high temperatures, effectively delaying the spread of fire.

High-temperature Stability: After being exposed to a 600°C open flame for 3 hours, the board still retains a relatively high flexural strength.

Long Fire Resistance Duration: When used as an exterior wall panel, in combination with fire-resistant rock wool and other filling materials, the exterior wall of the building can achieve a fire resistance limit of more than 3 hours, meeting the fire protection standards for high-rise buildings (such as residential buildings and public buildings over 100 meters) (GB 50016-2014).

 

2. Excellent Structural and Mechanical Properties
The glass magnesium board not only has outstanding fire resistance but also has structural stability suitable for exterior wall applications:
- High strength and impact resistance: The density of the board is approximately 1.2-1.4g/cm³, capable of directly supporting the weight of exterior decorative layers (such as stone and paint), and it is not prone to cracking or deformation under the influence of wind pressure, hail, and other external forces.
- Dimensional stability: By optimizing the magnesium cement ratio and adding modifiers, the moisture content of the board can be controlled within 8%, with a wet expansion rate of ≤0.3% and a dry shrinkage rate of ≤0.3%, effectively preventing warping and cracking caused by changes in environmental humidity.
- Construction convenience: MgO boards are typically 6–20mm thick and much lighter than traditional stone or concrete panels. They can be installed by nailing, gluing, or dry-hanging, making construction faster and reducing labor and time costs.

3. Weather resistance and environmental adaptability
As an exterior wall material, glass fiber reinforced magnesium oxide board needs to withstand the erosion of the natural environment for a long time. Its weather resistance is reflected in:
Water-resistant and moisture-proof: After modification, the water absorption rate can be controlled below 14%. It does not soften or disintegrate like gypsum board in wet or humid conditions, making it suitable for areas with heavy rainfall or coastal cities.
Resistant to acid and alkali corrosion: It has strong resistance to corrosive gases such as sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide in the air. It can maintain stable performance in industrial areas or heavily polluted cities, with a service life of 15-20 years.

 

4. Environmental friendliness and multi-functionality
Non-toxic: No formaldehyde, benzene or other harmful substances are added during production. The free formaldehyde release of the board is ≤0.1mg/m³ (meeting the GB 18580-2017 E1 standard). No toxic gases are released during combustion, making it a green and environmentally friendly building material.
Sound insulation and heat insulation: The internal porous structure gives it a certain sound insulation effect (airborne sound insulation ≥ 30dB). It can be combined with insulation layers to form a composite exterior wall system, improving the energy efficiency of buildings.
Processability: It can be sawn, planed, and drilled, making it easy to be cut into complex shapes according to design requirements, and suitable for various architectural styles.
