Core Fireproof Advantage of MgO Board

Jan 14, 2026

MgO (Magnesium Oxide) board is a certified A1 Class Non-Combustible Material compliant with international standards. Thanks to its inorganic mineral composition and stable crystal structure, it boasts outstanding fire resistance with zero flame spread and no toxic fume emission.

1. Fireproof MechanismMgO board is mainly made of high-purity magnesium oxide and magnesium chloride. Through chemical curing, it forms a stable magnesium oxychloride crystal structure and is completely inorganic in nature, making it inherently non-combustible. The added alkaline glass fiber mesh only serves a reinforcing function and does not participate in combustion either.

2. Core Fire Resistance IndicatorsIn accordance with standards such as EN 13501-1 and ASTM E136, MgO board achieves the highest A1 Class Non-Combustible rating. It exhibits no flame spread even at a high temperature of 1200°C and can maintain structural integrity without collapse at 800°C. With a properly designed installation and assembly scheme, its fire resistance duration can reach 60–240 minutes, effectively preventing the spread of fire.

3. Safety AdvantagesWhen exposed to fire, MgO board releases no toxic smoke or molten drips, which will not exacerbate fire hazards. It can significantly improve the safety factor for personnel evacuation and fire rescue operations in buildings. Therefore, it is ideal for applications in scenarios with strict fire protection requirements, such as high-rise buildings, shopping malls, hospitals and industrial workshops.
