Roof Decking MGO Board is a kind of inorganic fireproof structural substrate specially designed for roof systems. It is made of magnesium oxide as the cementitious material, reinforced with plant fibers, glass fiber mesh and other additives, formed under high pressure and cured with a special process. It features Class A1 non-combustibility, high strength, moisture resistance, no halogen return and no steel corrosion, making it an ideal and durable substitute for wood boards, gypsum boards in steel-structured roof decks, floor slabs and composite roof systems.
Special structural board for roof base/floor deck, providing load-bearing, fireproofing, moisture-proofing and substrate functions, compatible with waterproof membranes, roof tiles, photovoltaic roofs and other surface layers.
Key Categories:
Magnesium Oxysulfate (MOS) MGO Board: Preferred for roofing projects. Chloride-free, no halogen return, no corrosion to steel structures. Chloride ion emission ≤ 0.012% (ASTM C871-11), excellent weather resistance.
Magnesium Oxychloride (MOC) MGO Board: Lower cost but prone to halogen return in high humidity. Not recommended for long-term exposed roofing.
Properties
- Excellent Fire Resistance:Class A1 non-combustible (GB 8624-2012 / ASTM E136). Stable structure at 1200°C, no toxic smoke, fire resistance up to 2–3 hours.
- High Strength & Load-Bearing Capacity:Flexural strength 18–27 MPa, density 1.4–1.8 t/m³, strong nail-holding power, suitable for roof live loads and equipment installation.
- Moisture & Weather Resistance:Softening coefficient > 0.8. No blistering or delamination after short-term water immersion; no mold growth in long-term high humidity. MOS type has no halogen return.
- Eco-Friendly & Safe:Free of asbestos and formaldehyde (ENF grade), recyclable, compliant with green building standards.
- Easy & Efficient Installation:Lightweight, easy to cut and drill. Can be quickly fixed to steel structures. Tongue-and-groove or shiplap edges improve integrity and installation efficiency.
