What is Magnesium Oxide (MGO) Cement Board?
Jan 23, 2026
MGO cement board (also called glass magnesium board) is an inorganic fireproof building panel made from active magnesium oxide, magnesium salt solution, glass fiber mesh, fillers and modified additives. It features a magnesium-based cementitious core, offering non-combustibility, high strength and good durability.
Why Use Magnesium Oxide (MGO) Cement Board?
Superior fire resistance: Class A1 non-combustible, fire-resistant for 60–240 minutes, no toxic smoke emission.
Moisture & mold resistance: Hydrophobic, no water absorption or deformation, ideal for wet areas (bathrooms, basements).
Lightweight & high strength: Lighter than concrete/brick, easy to cut and install, saving labor costs by 50%+.
Thermal & acoustic insulation: Low thermal conductivity (0.027–0.04 W/m·K) for energy saving, 45–55 dB sound insulation comparable to brick walls.
Eco-friendly & long lifespan: Non-toxic (no formaldehyde/heavy metals), recyclable, service life over 50 years.
Versatile applications: Suitable for interior/exterior walls, ceilings, partitions, cold storages, industrial/public buildings and renovation projects.
