Product Introduction
MGO Board (Magnesium Oxide Board) is a high-performance new-type building material, especially suitable for wall decoration and fire protection projects. MGO Board is a non-combustible decorative material composed of a ternary system of magnesium oxide (MgO), magnesium sulfate (MgSO₄), and water as the base, supplemented with modifiers, reinforced by neutral-alkaline glass fiber mesh, and filled with lightweight composite materials.
1. Fire Resistance: Achieves Class A1 non-combustible rating (GB 8624-2012), with zero sustained combustion time. It remains non-combustible at 800℃ and flame-free at 1200℃. When used in partition systems with high-quality keels, the fire resistance rating can reach over 3 hours.
2. Excellent Water & Moisture Resistance: Maintains stable performance in dry-cold and humid environments, unaffected by condensed water or moist air. Even after soaking in water for several days, it retains its shape and rigidity without deliquescence, efflorescence, or water permeability after air-drying.
3. Eco-Friendly & Healthy: Free of asbestos, formaldehyde, benzene, and harmful radioactive elements. It produces no smoke, toxins, or odors when exposed to fire. Made from natural mineral powder and plant fibers, the production process is low-energy and emission-free, meeting environmental standards.
4. & Earthquake-Resistant: With an apparent density of 0.8-1.2g/cm³, it reduces building load by over 60% for interior walls and increases usable space by 5-8%. This enhances structural seismic performance and lowers costs for foundations and main structures.
5. High Strength: Despite its light weight, it features a dense structure and excellent stability, with wood-like toughness. It exhibits outstanding impact resistance, compression resistance, tensile strength, and fracture resistance, with a flexural strength of 322kgf/cm² (vertical) and 216kgf/cm² (horizontal), and an impact strength of up to 25MPa.
6. Good Sound Insulation: A 6mm-thick board offers a sound insulation capacity of 29dB. A partition system consisting of double-layer 9mm MGO boards + 75mm keels + 50mm rock wool achieves an air-borne sound insulation of over 42dB.
7. Mold & Insect Resistant: Composed of inorganic mineral materials, it resists mold, bacteria, insects, and termites, complying with European and American mold-resistance standards for building materials.

How Does MGO Board for Walls Building Materials Fireproof Magnesium Oxide Board MGO Panel Achieve Fire Resistance?
MGO Board (Magnesium Oxide Board) attains the Class A1 non-combustible fire rating (GB 8624-2012) through a three-dimensional mechanism involving inorganic base material properties, structural design, and process optimization. Its fire-resistant principle is detailed in the following 5 key aspects:
1. Core: The "Non-Combustible Nature" of Inorganic Mineral Base Material
The main components of MGO Board form an inorganic cementitious system: a ternary mixture of magnesium oxide (MgO), magnesium sulfate (MgSO₄), and water, supplemented with inorganic fillers (e.g., talc, quartz sand) and reinforced with neutral-alkaline glass fiber mesh. No organic combustible components are involved:
Magnesium oxide (MgO), a product of natural mineral calcination, is an incombustible inorganic substance with a melting point of 2852℃. It undergoes no thermal decomposition or melting below 800℃ and does not release flammable gases when exposed to fire.
Magnesium sulfate (MgSO₄), acting as a curing agent, is also an incombustible, high-temperature-resistant inorganic compound. It reacts with magnesium oxide to form a stable crystalline structure of "5·1·8 phase magnesium salt cement," further enhancing the fire stability of the base material.
Compared to wood-based panels (flammable organic fibers) and gypsum boards (prone to dehydration and powdering at high temperatures), MGO Board's inorganic base material fundamentally eliminates the "fuel source." It only slightly shrinks when exposed to fire, without burning or collapsing.
2. Structure: "Fire Barrier" Enhanced by Glass Fiber Mesh & Dense Texture
(1) Skeletal Support of Neutral-Alkaline Glass Fiber Mesh
MGO Board is embedded with multiple layers of neutral-alkaline glass fiber mesh, whose main component is silicon dioxide (SiO₂)-an inorganic high-temperature-resistant material with a melting point of approximately 1720℃. It remains incombustible, non-softening, and non-shrinking at high temperatures. Its functions include:
Enhancing structural integrity: Even if the base material slightly shrinks during a fire, the glass fiber mesh maintains skeletal support, preventing the board from cracking and falling off and forming a continuous fire barrier.
Blocking flame penetration: The dense grid structure of the glass fiber mesh hinders flame spread and delays fire penetration. When combined with a keel system, it further improves the fire resistance rating (e.g., a partition of double-layer 9mm MGO boards + 75mm keels + rock wool achieves a fire resistance rating of over 3 hours).
(2) Dense Thermal Insulation Layer via High-Pressure Molding
MGO Board is manufactured through "high-pressure molding + high-temperature curing," resulting in a uniformly dense board (density: 0.8-1.2g/cm³):
The dense structure reduces air pores, lowering thermal conductivity (only 0.11-0.15W/(m·K)) and providing excellent thermal insulation, preventing rapid heat transfer to the backside.
During a fire, the board surface forms a "ceramicized glaze" (a product of high-temperature sintering of inorganic components), which further seals pores, blocks oxygen intake, and interrupts the combustion chain.
3. Reaction: "Stabilization Transformation" at High Temperatures
When exposed to high temperatures or flames, MGO Board undergoes no "combustion reaction"-only slight physical changes-without releasing harmful substances:
No thermal decomposition: The crystalline structure of magnesium salt cement (5·1·8 phase) formed by magnesium oxide and magnesium sulfate remains stable below 1200℃, without decomposing into flammable/toxic gases such as CO, formaldehyde, or benzene.
No molten dripping: Unlike organic panels (e.g., PVC boards) that melt and drip at high temperatures, MGO Board only shrinks slowly and slightly powders on the surface, with no dripping to cause secondary fires.
Smoke-free & non-toxic: Free of organic additives, asbestos, and radioactive elements, it produces no smoke when burned, meeting European and American "smoke-free building material" standards and providing more escape time.
4. Process: Modification to Enhance "Fire Stability"
Two key process optimizations further strengthen fire resistance during production:
Halide Efflorescence Resistance Modification: Special modifiers (e.g., phosphate esters, silicone) are added to prevent "halide efflorescence" (precipitation of magnesium sulfate) in humid environments, ensuring the stability of the inorganic cementitious system. Efflorescence would loosen the board structure and reduce fire reliability at high temperatures.
Gradient Density Design: High-end MGO Boards adopt a gradient structure of "dense surface + uniform core." The surface quickly forms a ceramicized protective layer, while the core maintains structural strength, extending fire resistance time.
